Action Cam Recommendations/reviews?

I am in the market to buy a new action cam. I am have two options: First, to buy an action cam to mount on the shotgun. Second, to buy a cam to mount on head or chest. I guess it boils down to what do you want to capture. I do a lot of upland hunting and i want to capture my dog pointing and shooting at the same time.

I am thinking of buying GOPRO Hero2 outdoors. In the package you will get a head mount but it does not include shotgun mount. I like this camera because it can take wide angle pictures or videos.

Do you have any recommendations or ratings or.....

Thanks a lot.

I found the following information.

When it comes to video quality, Sony AS15 ($499) is the worst performer with low resolution. GoPro Hero outdoor edition ($299) is number one and Contour+2 ($399) came second.

Good luck...

I use a GoPro Hero 2 in my videos I've posted on here. I really like the quality of the video & with the head mount It's pretty much looking down the barrel, plus if it were mounted on your gun you would be filming the ground a lot or would have to aim your gun at the dog to see the point. With it on your head you get the best of both worlds, you go home & watch what you just experienced, the dog on point, the flush & the shot/kill.

I love my GoPro Hero3. Used it on vacation snorkeling and it was awesome. They now have a mount for dogs. Can't wait to try it on my GSP

I've always heard the Go Pro battery life is the worst in the industry. Any truth to that?

Andy, seems like I remember the battery in mine going dead after a couple of hours of recording. I purchased a couple of additional batteries off of ebay so it wasn't a big deal.

Small camera = small battery = short battery life. Not sure if it's the worst, but it's not great. Batteries aren't very expensive & its easy to put a fresh one in.

Is there big advantage of getting Black over the silver or white models? 3 over the older 2 models?

With each new model, the resolution is increased as well as the features. I use a HD Hero 2. It meets my needs so I will not rush out and buy the newer Hero 3. I was recently at Sam's Club and they had a good price on the newer model.

With the different colors, I have looked at the specs in the past and a small difference may be there. In some cases, different style mounting brackets may be included with certain models.

A friend of mine had one, he didn't have any luck with it at all. But that's only 1…
