E-collers with Buzz(tone) & Vibration

Does the "Buzz(tone)" and Vibration features on the newer E collars actually do anything?

Will a dog ( GSP )even notice or respond or get his attention. Or is it a gimmick? Seems like a vibration might be a good feature, but I wonder if a dog will even respond to a vibration or buzz tone rather than the using the electric stimulus

Ive only had the older stimulus e-collars, Tritronics 12 years old. I'm going to get a new unit for my new dog

I have the DT 2420, It doesent have the tone but it has the vibrate button. It works well on my dogs to get their attention. I'm not a big fan of shocking my buddies but if they don't get the hint with the vibration I will hit the rise button and hold it until they do. Least amount of electricity needed to get the job done is the best way with an e collar. IMO

I have a SportDog SD1225, has vibe and tone also. Use the vibrate for an attention getter, to recall, or cast another direction. Stimulation is used for corrections.

It depends on your dog,my little female responds well to the vibration. My knucklehead male ignores it.

My Brittany is about as soft as they get, he can handle e stimulation but get weary. The vibrate mode worked great as a correction and Whoa and doesn't cause him to get distracted or weary.

I have a soft beep on mine. With my old Britt, it works great. With my young Britt, it works ok if he is not enthralled in a chase for which it takes a 3 out of 5 ZAP -- HARD HEADED DOG!
