Anyone have any experience with Rio Shells. In the absence of finding any Fiocchi Golden Pheasant, I bought some 20ga 7 1/2 Rios 2 3/4', 1 oz., 1250 velocity in hopes of finding some quail. Good or bad? Thanks

Not sure of the connection between them and the Golden Pheasant loads...

I have a few buddies that shot that round with 8s at doves and we're very happy.

I've shot them and never had any issues, cycled in my SBE2 fine. Now if I was just a better shot....

I have shot a bunch of that exact round at the skeet and sporting clays range. I think they are a good round and do what they are supposed to.

If you are reloading, the European primers are slightly different than primers used in the US. At one time the only thing I could find were Rio primers and they don't fit so well into Winch. AA / Rem. STS hulls. Winchester primers into Rio hulls...I don't know. I believe the European primers have a slight taper compared to a straight wall on the US standard.

At least I have a lifetime supply of 209 primers for my starter pistol

Another European shell that I've been having good luck with in 16 ga are "Herters"...Cabelas sells them @ $59.99 / $69.99 per flat

Thanks much to everyone. I have just always shot the Golden Pheasant and have been very happy with them. Headed to Kansas in a few weeks and Cabelas had very few Fiocchi on the shelves so a went with a case of the Rio's. Hearing from coop and you guys makes me feel much more comfortable. Most of the time I'll be putting them through a Benelli Mentefeltro. Thanks you all again!
