Innotek

Post by Pryor Creek Okie » Fri Jun 15, 2007 12:54 pm

I'm looking at a new set of Innotek two dog digital e-collars (sorry I don't know the model #). I read through the old threads and I don't see too many good reviews of Innotek products. What is it that people don't like? Do they wear out quickly, malfunction, or just plain fall apart? The set I'm looking at seems pretty decent, but I don't want to buy it if it's no good.

Their collars are JUNK. They do not work reliably to say the least.

I've used an Innotek ADV300 going on it's 6th year and theonly problem I've had is the batteries went dead last fall. I also run an ADV1002 for 5 years now (2 dog) that I've not had a problem with. All my buddies run Innotek and one collar was loosing its frequency which Innotek replaced quickly (called service line on Wednesday afternnon and new collar was at his house Friday morning).

There are not very many shock collars that have seen more use than mine, I work evening shifts and hunt 4-5 days a week, the collars are often used at least 4 days a week sometimes 7 (my dad takes them out often too). I have had very good success with them and would recommend them to anyone. I'm basing my opinion on about 15 sets of collars and 7 or 8 different people, all the ADV series or older, none of the newer fancy dancier ones.

In what I have used of other brands I like the remotes on the Innotek's better, they seem to be more user freindly, easy to operate remotes and very small not some huge bulky thing that looks like a radio that belongs on a World War I battlefield.

I have not used one but the concenus of opinion is they are the poorest collar on the market. Many people have had numerous problems with them. That doesn't mean everyone has as you can see but if you poll the membership here I will bet 90% will say don't do it.

Take it for what it is worth.

I got some In-a-wreck collars I could sell you if you like them. They work half the time and half the option work too.

1 out of 100 is a good one BUT when there is anything wrong..throw it away they aren't fixable ...Look at collar clinic..they work on all brands of e collar But Innorec

Sportdog bought them out but they bought them to corner the market on e fences

Go with Tri Tronics They are American Made

Had 3 Innoteks collars in 5 years. Each one lasted a little over a year then "belly up". Only thing saving me was the 5 year warranty I bought with the first one. Each one failed  and was sent back and replaced at no charge. :) 3rd went down (5 years was up) and no more replacement, so no more Innotek for me.

The issue with mine was the transmitter would just quite talking to the collar receiver. could not get it synchronized.

Dogtra Good !!!!!!!!!

Most of the problems I've seen with Innotek loosing reception between collar and transmitter was more operator error than the equipment itself. And almost everytime it happened was when the person took the collar off the charger and didn't set the frequency. I have it all the time with my ADV 1002 but what ends up happening is each collar gets set on the same button, so I have to reset the 2nd collar.

We'll Birdhunter you haven't seen them all...

You'll just have to take my word for it, I covered all the bases as far as syncronizing and frequency. Even had Innotek walk me through it on the phone but to no avail.

FYI, The CS 16000TT (not sure about the newer ones) will randomly select between 1 and 2000 individual frequency codes so the chances of setting it identical to another is extremely rare.

Don't have to worry about freqencies or syncronizing this or that, programming this to that anymore now that I went to Dogtra.

TriTronics is unbeatable overall. The G2 transmitter is also half the size of the old version which I have. I like the old version, I can use it as club if someone tries to mug me in the field. :D

Personally I have had TT and Innotek and also used DT. I agree that TT was OK and their customer service was good. Now ask yourself, why does everone know how good their customer service is? The innotek CS 16000 that I bought years ago when they first came out is still working great. I did have to replace the transmitter battery last fall, but that has been it. Ask the guys who are using TT how many launchers or auto backers they can control from their transmitters. I can use as many as 8 and still control two dogs and all the functions of their beeper collars. I think the problem is Innotek used to have a very cheep line, and everyone based their opinions on a bottom of the line collar. As long as my launchers keep working flawless as usual I will continue to use Innotek.

CW, the fact that you said you bought it years ago and would appear you have only replaced the transmitter battery once, tells me it didn't see a whole lot of use. Mine saw almost daily use and even use in the water, changed out the transmitter batteries at least twice each year in those 5 years, yet I still went through 3 collars total before I had enough.

I'm sure if you look hard enough you will find Innotek users who have had no problems with their units, but just from what I have heard on a number of boards the overwhelming consensus is that Innotek collars are not reliable.

There are very few people out there that will use a collar more than I have and I have had good luck with Innotek. I had to replace one collar once and the only time I've changed batteries is preventaive maintenance.

What do you all use the collar for? I probably don't use it once a week even though it is on the dogs everyday. Then it is just a nick normally. I just don't think of that as using the collar a lot. I don't have to charge them but once evry two or three months.

What are you all doing I'm not?

When I said use them I mean they are on the dogs, rarely do I have to grab the remote but the collars are on the dogs in the mud, water and brush and are on.

I have to say that I haven't had any problems with my innotek collars in 8 years. I have a buddy that has already been through 2 TT collars in the same span. My 2 cents.

i have more than 5 sets of innotek collars that are all still working. My oldest is a free spirit 300 that is about 9 yrs old. It still works while my two TT field 70's both broke within a year each. I will never go back to Tri-Tronics, but what do i know.

Tom, It seems as though you may not understand how to charge a battery if you needed to replace a NIMH battery that often. Or we are not talking about the same system. But who am I to judge. I did notice you adverted around the question about the launchers. How many does your TT control? It seems from what I've read on the Internet, the TT tribe is always saying or should I say yelling about how they are the best. Yet it is very apparent TT is so far behind in their technology compared to DT and Innotek. Sometimes one has to look to the more innovative companies to find what they want. I wanted a system that could control the beeper collar without calling the dog back in to the handler. No such thing with TT. I purchased a remote launcher shortly after, and it is the best thing since sliced bread. No such thing with TT. Yes a few problems will be had when dealing with new technology, and TT has been using the same rotational switch, analog frequency selector and simple buttons for many years. That is why I switched from TT. No new technology for all those years and not enough functions.

Wow, let this thing die the collars are junk. I think that is what the original poster was talking about right? Since it was almost 2 months ago I am sure he made his mind already.

I have three old style 1600 TT not the new rechargable type. And I think it's there best.
A friend of mine bought a new G-2 and told me that he doesn't like it as much has his 1600. after two season of use.

I spoke with Ed (Innotek) And he is talking about a new sport dog system that your going to be able to run your old innotek launcher/ backers off this unit I can't wait to see it.

I just might be in the market for something new.

The only thing I don't like about the new/old innotek collars are them high rise beepers. Man can a dog hammer them going under a fence!
I liked the old/old style with the small beepers on the collars.

If you guy's know where I can get some new beepers fire back.
I need to talk to ol Ed. and see if he might have a few somewhere but he is always traveling around.

If you guy's don't like them junky old 1600 and bought something else I'll buy your old one. fire me a PM.

I have had good Innotek collars. Although Innotek colars aren't "cool" in the training world, I have had good luck with them.
