Dave Walker

I would like to give two thumbs up on Dave Walker's training book, and DVD's. I just got them this year. I have been into the pointing dogs for three years now and wish I would have bought them sooner. I think that his book and the DVD Meat on the Table make a great combination for anyone starting out or wanting to learn more about training.

I am just glad that I was able to get help from my dog's breeders and NAHVDA training days. This helped me to get a solid foundation on how to train. The book and DVD's go into the finer points that I wish I would have known from the beginning.

Dave is offering a special right now on his DVD's. If you buy Meat on the Table and Correcting problem Dogs, you get a third video for free. I don't know how long the special will last.

He is one of the all time greats. Delmar Smith, Dave Walker, Lloyd Budd, Lee Holman followed by his son Jim and his grandson Chad who just trained his 5th National Champion are some of the great Brittany trainers of the past that we all can learn from. Dave has also bred some great dogs.

It's not how many breaths you have taken but how many times it has been taken away!

Has anyone noticed common sense isn't very common anymore.

I have all of his tapes and dvd's. I have also been to 3 of his seminars, as well as being able to train with him on the days before and after the seminars. You will gain a wealth of knowledge from the dvd's, but to truly benefit from his expertise you should go to a seminar. They are only around 100 bucks if I recall. He's not in it for the money, he just loves to train people to train their dogs. The man is a legend, and everyone that has the chance should go. He probably won't be doing them for much longer. I don't know his website off hand, but you can search Dave Walker Dogs and find it that way. I am a shorthair guy, and even I like him in spite of him liking those little fur balls with no tails. (Just kiddin' guys) He is definately someone you have to meet before he is gone.
Oh yea, I hear he's going to be inducted into the Birddog HOF. Congrats, Dave you deserved it a long time ago.

Doug is right on the money, we have spent some time with the man and I am glad I did. One thing he does not do is beat around the bush, he'll tell you like it is. A great hands on seminar and only $150 for two whole days. If anyone is interested he will be in NE Iowa the first weekend in June for a seminar. It's well worth it. I have a link to the info PM me if you are interested. Mike

Think I will try to make that seminar. I haven't talked to him in quite a few years.
