Ok, you know those little "sheets of paper" that are to the left of new topics before you view them??

Why is it sometimes after I view the thread the sheet of paper is still colored like I haven't viewed it??

Does this happen to anyone else?

It happens when someone posts while you are reading. If you open it again you will find a new post.

It's not how many breaths you have taken but how many times it has been taken away!

Has anyone noticed common sense isn't very common anymore.

I know this CAN happen, but there is no way every thread gets a new post in a 20 second interval.

See, I am kind of weird in the fact that I want all the threads to have been viewed (no colored sheets) before I leave the page. So I will just click on threads JUST to get the colored sheet to go away...

Yes, I am strange.

Are you hitting you back button on your browser when you want to go back to the index? That will keep the old data up and not reload with current data.

matt,

don't feel bad. i do the same thing

you can't use the back button on your browser or the backpace on the keypad. after you view a thread use the gundogform index green links at the bottom and top of each page. if you are in general chat, for example, and want to stay in general chat click on that green link. if you are in general chat and want to get out to the list and go into training click on the gdg index link. this will reload the page with new info and your sheets will be white. if you use back button on browser, it doesn't reload new info from the site and you are basically going back to the info you already had in your computer. FYI, it's this way with all websites and not just GDF.

Thats odd. I always use the back button on the browser and it works fine for me.

maybe it's something to do with the fact that i am on iMac then. if use the backspace or back browser button, i get orange filled sheets. if use the green links no prob. of course you have to actually go into the thread though. i wander too, if you have to view the last page. or, maybe my apple is just weird. don't know, but that's what i have to do.

My experience is the same as yours, hub. If I hit "back," it loads the old page data from the temporary files cache, giving me orange flags still. If I hit F5 to refresh after hitting back I think it clears it up (can't remember right now). I also use the green links more often than not to work around that.

I'm using a WinXP Pro computer running Mozilla Firefox.

Ezzy, do you use Internet Explorer? The difference in browser may be why it works ok for you with just the "back" button. Just a guess, I haven't tested it myself.

Anyway, mtlee, try hitting F5 after you use the back button (if that's what you've been doing) and see if that clears it up.

Did you try hitting F5 when it happens?

Yea, I tried that...no dice.

I was at school today and logged onto the forum on a Mac and after I viewed a thread the page turned white, like its suppossed to. Must be some setting on my IBM.

It sounds like your computer/browser is shutting down some of the GDF cookies that are used to acknowledge new posts. Have you messed with your internet cookies lately?

I have a similar issue with the same flag only if I click it it erases "all" new post flags in all forums. Any ideas? I have not messed with anything. It works on all other message boards with the same icons just not GDF.
