age of able breeding?

Post by whiteflag » Thu Dec 13, 2007 10:20 pm

I'm going to the outlaws for christmas and they have a 1 1/2yr old boxer female. My britt is 10 months old. Neither are fixed is there a chance of them breeding or am I safe to take him with us? We dodn't want them to mix it up, so if I have to, I have back up care. :?:

Most males hit sexual maturity around six to nine months old, at least to the extent of being capable of producing viable semen.

Just ask the inlaws if the bitch looks like she'll be coming into heat, or if they know her likely time to cycle again. If she's in, it's possible. CR
There's a reason I like dogs better'n people

Ya, dogs usually cycle about twice a year, though my dog has had cycles as far as 10 months apart...odd. But if she's not in season then there's no worries.
