I unfortunatly have joined this thread...

Post by snips » Fri Apr 25, 2008 9:07 pm

I write this with a heavy heart. 6x NSTRA CH Gambles Rip-n-Logan passed today. He was only 10 yrs young, this is way too young for our dogs. He came up the last week breathing very hard then quit eating. Xrays showed lungs full of cancer. Logan was the sweetest, calmest dog I have had the pleasure of owning....But turned loose was 100% birddog all the time. I will find it very difficult to hunt without my favorite Sharptail dog, not to mention my Tx covey dog  He was my partner and I will miss him everyday. I know he has already found that big covey of Sharpies

So very, very sorry Brenda.
He lives on in his get. I'm sure you will see him every time you look at one of them and they will make you proud.

Godspeed Logan, Godspeed.

omg, Omg, OMG.

Brenda, I am SO sorry for your loss. Logan was such a nice boy.

As an aside, this is the 2nd of these that I've had today. Ammo, the dam of my V passed away. She was a superior dog as well.

SO sorry, It has been a sad month for those of us left behind. My thoughts are with you and I know Logan (and Aby too) is painfree, breathing easy, and waiting for us while they run play and relax in the sunny spots.

My sympathies Brenda. Dogs are with us for such a relatively short time as it is, but 10 years is too soon and especially for the good ones like Logan.

Brenda, so sorry for your loss, you have my heartfelt condolences......

The Spirit of a German Shorthair Dog

I was standing on a hillside, in a field of blowing wheat
And the spirit of a German Shorthair Dog was lying at my feet.
He looked at me with kind dark eyes, an ancient wisdom shining through
And in the essence of his being, I saw love there too.

His mind did lock upon my heart as I stood there on that day
And he told me of this story about a place so far away.
I stood upon that hillside in a field of blowing wheat
And in a twinkling of a second, his spirit had left my feet.

His tale did put my heart at ease, my fears did fade away
About what lay ahead of me on another distant day.
"I live among God's creatures now, in the heavens of your mind
So do not grieve for me my friend, as I am with my kind.

My collar is a rainbow's hue, my leash a shooting star
My boundaries are the Milky Way where I sparkle from afar.
There are no pens or kennels here, for I am not confined
But free to roam God's heavens, among my Shorthair kind.

I nap the day on a snowy cloud, gentle breezes rocking me
And dream the dreams of earthlings, and how it used to be.
The trees are full of grouse up here and quail they do abound,
And pheasants line the meadows, just waiting to be found.

There even is a field trial grounds, the grass all lush and green
And everyone who gets around becomes a champion.
For we're all winners in this place, we have no faults you see
And God passes out those ribbons, to each one, even me.

I drink from waters laced with gold, my world a beauty to behold
And wise old dogs do form my pride to amble at my very side.
At night I sleep in an angel's arms, her wings protecting me
And moonbeams dance about us as stardust falls on thee.

So when your life on earth is spent and you stand at Heaven's gate
Have no fear of loneliness, for here, you know I'll wait."

My deepest sympathies n your loss. I'm all too familiar with the pain of the loss of the beloved k9s - let alone the loss of a beloved champion and great producer. God Speed in the healing of your heart and may all of the wonderful memories made with Logan be your comfort during this dark time of grieving.

Blessed be Brenda ....my heart is with you during this difficult time.

Sorry to hear thay Brenda. The best way to get better is with ew puppies. You have several out of him so jump in and expend your energy on valuating them. No matter how you go about it it's still a tough go when you loose a really special friend.

my english setter passed away last year it was the most horrible experience ever and i found an old video of her yesterday and yes it brought a tear to my eye so sorry to anyone who has lost a dog i know what its like the biggest injustice of this world is that our canine friends dont share thier time on earth with us as long as we'd like
