R.I.P. Elle

Post by Dakotazeb » Wed Nov 23, 2016 8:07 am

Yesterday we put down our beloved Elle. She finally succumbed to a spinal tumor at age 8. This has left a huge hole in our hearts and our home. There will never be another one like her. She turned out to be more dog than I could have ever asked for and gave me 8 great years to share with her. She was just a big lover around the house. Most loving dog I have ever had. She also was a tremendous pheasant dog. Best I've ever had. And then to top it off, with no formal training by me or anyone else she excelled in NSTRA field trials and became a NSTRA Champion this past spring. I was truly blessed to have such a dog in my life.

So sorry for your loss. Sounds like she was a great dog. We have been hearing about her for quite a while, seem like we know her. It is never long enough. You gave her a great life doing what she truly loved to do. You just can't do any more than that.

It's so very hard to lose a once in a lifetime dog at such a young age. That's the part that takes a long time to reconcile in your heart. Sincerest sympathy.

Thanks for all the kind comments. This has been a tough one. Tougher than any dog I've had to put down. I am still shedding tears every day when I think about her. Not only did she l eave this earth too young, this dog and I were attached to one another like other dog I've had. Guess that's why it's been extremely rough. Hopefully within the next 6 months I'll have another four legged companion. I have my eye on a started Brittany and also on a started field bred Gordon Setter. Going to be a tough choice.

Thanks for all the kind thoughts. Been a tough month and I still tear up when I think about her. But tomorrow I take off on a new adventure with a new dog. I'm heading to Idaho from our winter home in Arizona to pick up a 6 month old female Brittany. I've posted with on another thread but thought I'd add it here.
