Last Point for 2X FC Seattle's Jack Flash (Jack)

1:00 PM Sunday January 29, 2017, Hart Mountain Antelope Refuge, Lake County, Oregon
Jack ( English Setter) and I attempting to photograph Pronghorn from a blind on a rocky hillside in the refuge.
I let Jack out of the blind to pee. He's gone about ten minutes so I go out to call him in. I see him on a picture perfect point about 50 yards down the hill. I go down and flush a dozen Grays. I let him chase and about 10 minutes he returns and we go back to the blind. He lays on my feet looks around the mountain, sniffs the air, closes his eyes and takes a deep last breath.
He was eight days short of his 13 birthday. He lived the best life a bird dog can live and died the way a bird dog should.
It's only been one day and I already miss him.
