Post by Elroy's Bandit » Fri Feb 06, 2009 6:41 pm

Anybody heard anything from the GSPCSA Field Trial in Freer ? I believe the AA started this morning, followed by the LGD.

I heard that for the AA it was 82 degrees wind at 30 mph and that only ONE dog had a find. Not the greatest of conditions.

Dennis had a pretty good weekend and so did the Tomlinson brothers. Joker had a bit of a unfortunate gunning on his call back contributing to a faux pas....due mainly to very high wind or he would have won the All-Age as well.

Ken, I'm really happy for you, Wayne and Dennis. That was huge GD stake! What a way for Sunny to finish her FC, by winning a 5 point major! Also congrats also on Boy's Derby win. It's nice to see those Hud/Jazz pups showing up in the results. Thanks for giving em the chance :D

Ken,
That is Sunny that is out of Magnum and Dot correct? That is awesome!!! I am so proud that she is doing so well for you! Congrats to you and Dennis for the job you have done with her. I am very glad to see his offspring continue to be successful! Way to Go.

That's correct Nancy. Quite a ways from showing up at a trainer's camp and saying "I haven't ever actually seen a field trial stake other than the breakaway, but I think I may have a trial prospect" to running five dogs in the Amateur. As Eldon Hongo so aptly put it "be careful, you get that first blue ribbon and you may be bit". Sometimes when I'm writing the checks I want to call and say darn you, look what you started. :D

Sunny had a huge limb find not long after the breakaway and carried on through the remainder of the brace with three or four finds and a stop to flush. The judge who followed her said she ran a little big, but was always running to places she should to find birds and had a really big move at the finish.

Ken,

First of all, congrats on Sunny. She's come a long way in the last year or so; nice to see all of that raw potential come together.

Do you have, or can you get, the rest of the results for the trial?

I'll be in camp from the 19th to the 22nd - stop out if you can.

Dave

Thanks Dave. I may be able to get the results if I can get Georgia Brown, the trial secretary, on the phone. She is also the secretary for the NGSPA trial and thus still in Freer.

The results were announced kind of randomly and you had to be in the clubhouse when they were announced. If you were otherwise engaged, you missed the announcements. I know Steve Pasas won the Amateur, but I don't know with what dog.

I will make it a point to get out there while you are in residence.
