Briar -

Thank you for the warning. I deleted the message and then emptied my recycle bin also.

I wish I would have read this first. The link brought me to a website to buy viagra. Hopefully a virus was not attached and it was only a link to the website.

Your virus guard would pick it up and contain it before it caused a problem.

ezzy,
mine was from this ferracont as well ..
as soon as I opened it my computor updated something and asked me to reboot..my virus guard did pop up ..
I quickly closed it and used my restore on my computor to restore it to an earlier date and then ran the virus scan ..

I dont think I got a virus, but i am pretty sure it attempted to download something to my computor..

like I said I would suggest if you got this pm to delete it and not open it..

If you right click on the link you can select properties and see what the link points to, this one had a .ru extension rumania, may have downloaded a trojan which can be hard to detect as it shows no malicious code until it goes off.

regarding these links, simply going to the webpage can expose your computer to malwae (virus, trojan, worm, etc...) Also, just because you have anti-virus installed does not mean you are 100% safe. This is not meant to scare people but it's widely known that no virus software is 100% effective 100% of the time, especially with new viruses. Also, you may have up to date virus software but if you are not running your windows updates regularly, simply going to the webpage is enough for the bad guys to take control of your pc.

If you have clicked the link and viewed the webpage mentioned in the pm I would suggest the following:

1. making sure windows updates are up to date
2. making sure your virus software is up to date
3. run a virus scan using your installed virus software using the most "in-depth" scan as possible
4. getting a 2nd opinion by going to a 2nd virus manufacturer's web page and running their online scanning tool, here is one example:

http://www.eset.com/onlinescan/index.php

Good Luck, if you need any additional info on any of these steps, let me know.
