NARROWED down (two shotguns)

Finally, I have narrowed down my search. I want to toss it at the forum and see if you all have any input or opinions. Please let me know if you have any experiences with a Remington 11-87 Upland Special or the Remington 1100 Light 20 Special.

I have an 1100 lt-20 that I have had for about 30 years. Its what I started out hunting with and what I started my son out with. Its pretty much his gun now and what he uses for everthing except deer. I am assuming if it is the special it has an english stock? I don't know how much difference there is between it and the 11-87 probably not much.

We had a Rem 1100 20ga LT as my oldes boy started shooting and hunting. It was pretty reliable but quite heavy for a youth/ladies gun.

I believe the biggest difference in the two is that the 1187 should take at least 3" shells and the 1100 probably only takes 2 3/4" shells. This can be quite a difference maker in a 20ga gun depending on your type of hunting.

What is the difference b/w the two types of shells (besides the obvious....length???) What would you hunt with each kind? What is the ideal shell for quail in AZ? Thanks

Its more of a technical difference between the two guns. For quail, 2 3/4 are fine and the most available.
