I have a 6 month old EP that I want to send out west this coming summer to get exposure to wild birds. Looking for suggestions on who to send him with. He is not a trial dog just a hunting dog that may run some NSTRA. I live in Indiana, but transporting the dog to the right guy is not a problem.
Would also consider a cover dog guy. My main goal is to get this pup into alot of wild birds.

Re: Summer Camp
I would try Nolan Huffman. He did a great job with my wire. He knows the NSTRA game and will probably travel through IN on his way out west. I met him along the interstate to drop my dog off. Anyhow he did good in my book and is real nice guy. He won't give you any B.S. either he'll tell you straight up and honest how he feels. Send me a pm and I'll give you his number.

I was wondering the same thing as to how much it costs? How long are they gone. And who would be a good trainer to send a pointer with to get your dog into the most birds.
Re: Summer Camp
If what you are looking for is someone that is able to get your dog on birds, I may be able to help. I am not a pro trainer but moved to a great area that allows for plenty of exposure to wild birds. Many of the pro trainers come to this area for their summer camp. This area has plenty of grouse, quail and a few pheasants, which allows great training opportunities for a young dog. I have a young pup that will need plenty of exposure also, so that will be my focus. I have access to thousands of private acres to run the dogs on. We are at the beginning of the sandhills in Nebraska. I have a vet that I have a great relationship with that lives near me.
If you are looking for someone to do finishing work with the dog, I would not say that I am ready to do that yet, but if you are wanting initial exposure let me know. Send me a PM, if you want to discuss
