Grouse

Does anyone hunt grouse with their Weims? I thought about getting one once but other people told me that they weren't a good choice for the grouse woods here in E. Kentucky. Can someone clear my view on this matter?

I use my Weim Dusty for all of my upland hunting, grouse, woodcock, and pheasant. Although the grouse have presented more of a challenge for him (as they are for most dogs) but he's catching on. The only drawback that I've encountered is that the cover we hunt is pretty thick and thorny and he tends to get pretty beat up. I've tried hunting him witha skid plate vest on but he'll have none of that. As far as out and out hunting ability Weims are more than fine for grouse.
