Most pointer people will probably disagree with me, especially field trialers, but I love the intensity of the orange and white pointer on point. To me, that is style, even if it isn't a 12:00 tail.

I have a Britt that points with so much intensity that sometimes he bites his lip while pointing. Intensity is a great thing.

Well some field trial folks don't mind it!! That O&W dog (CH Bust'n Out) has got a couple placements in Nat'l Ch. qualifiers - another win in one and he'll be at the big show. Hunted the limits of the Madsen Ranch goin' RU to Strut at the US Chicken in August. The B&W pointer is CH Idaho's Lucky Strike, a multi CH as well and also a leg shy of goin' to the big show. Them AA dogs are about alot more than making a pretty picture!! We'da put some quail, chuks and huns in the bag over 'em today if the season was still open - practiced catch and release!! Fun to get to tag along with those guys! Most pointer people will probably disagree with me, especially field trialers, but I love the intensity of the orange and white pointer on point. Re: Spring Training
I agree with you! I like the natural intensity over a "poised point" you get with a lot of barrel work......not that I don't put my dogs on a barrel One of the nicest points I ever saw was a dog hitting sent in the air as he jumped over a dead fall. He came down looking like a pretzel and shivering like he was freezing to death.DGFavor wrote:Well some field trial folks don't mind it!! That was some fine picture takin if I ever saw some. Ayuh. Love the leaning in to the point. Will take that over a stand up straight, straight up tail any day. That is all natural. I am envious Green grass already.

I am happy to hear that it is more than looking like they are posing for a picture!!! Congrats on your and your dog's accomplishments. BTW, all of the dogs look great, that one pointer just really caught my eye. Thanks for sharing and good luck with them in the future.DGFavor wrote:Well some field trial folks don't mind it!! Is that Rich Robertson you were running dogs with? Looks like him.

Re: Spring Training
Yah, Richie tolerates us flailing around up there with him now and then. One of the hardest things for trainers to replicate in training for FT's is the commotion that goes along with them - so if we can come up, cut our dogs loose, goof around with cameras, fall off our horses, have our horses get loose, generally make nuisances of ourselves it does help his dogs get used to the commotion of competition.
