weight on gsp

Post by jer_allen27 » Wed Jan 19, 2011 12:54 pm

I got a 11 month old GSP. And I'm feeding her nutro hi performance. About 5 to 6 cups a day and still her ribs show a bit and looks gangly. Is this normal for a GSP at this age. She is full of energy and appears healthy.
What do u all think?

Not unusual for a teen ager. Just give him some time and he will mature and gain some weight. But I sure wouldn't feed him any more and if you see any sign of loose stool I would even cut him back slightly. You have to be up near the max a dog can handle.

It's not how many breaths you have taken but how many times it has been taken away!

Has anyone noticed common sense isn't very common anymore.

She always has about 3 to 4 ribs showing. Maybe its just her age.

My 6-yr old is on 4 cups of PPP and most ribs are showing and that is with Prozyme! Hip bones are very visible as well.

My dogs sire could eat 6-8 cups of euk 30-20 and you could still see every rib and hip bone. My girl has ribs showing and she is very healthy. She eats 3-5 cups a day depending on how much she works/how she acts. I wouldn't worry and actually like how it looks.
