Ex-Pen escape artist

Post by mudpuppy1299 » Sat Feb 26, 2011 11:49 am

Well my 12 week old vizsla pup finally escaped from her ex-pen! I'm suprised it took her this long. How do you guys keep your pups confined in the house? I take her to work with me and can't let her have the run of the place all the time. Thanks.

We have baby gates blocking the 2 entrances of the kitchen so she stays in the kitchen, crates for sleeping or if we leave and if she comes in the living room its only when she is watched carefully seeing as she is 11 weeks and pees CONSTANTLY :D ...basically its a rotation of each and LOTS of walks and games outside.....ruth

Put a 3/4 sheet of 1/2" plywood over it.
Never try to teach a pig to sing. It wastes your time and annoys the pig.

You can buy a wire mesh top for them. I have one from Midwest. Snaps on and it hinged in the middle so you can flip it back when putting pup in or taking out. I have used it with my GSP for 2 yrs with good luck.

All of these ideas are good, but do SOMETHING to prevent and extinguish the behavior. You do not want this pup growing up thinking if he just works at it long enough...he can defeat any enclosure. Escape learning is very difficult to change once it takes hold.

I have a 4 foot x pen which makes a cap to my 3 foot x pens
