Re: Surgical Glue
try the closest vet clinic. a small town clinic would be your best bet.

Staples will not work. Just need the glue

Re: Surgical Glue
Should have been clearer in my response.....curious as to the use of surgical glue over staples? Staples for the big stuff and glue to the smaller cuts? How big of a wound can you close up with the glue?Buckeye_V wrote:Staples will not work. Just need the glue
Re: Surgical Glue
super glue. same stuff. ok, it's one molecule different, but basically the same. a MD told me so.

Re: Surgical Glue
Super Glue. Vet told me they were about the same. Surgical has color in it to see what you are glueing. Glue for small cuts and staples for larger cuts and tears in moving areas of the dogs.

Re: Surgical Glue
I think you can use glue for more than small cuts. I had a vet do a AI breeding where there was about a 4 inch incision on the belly, glue was used.

Re: Surgical Glue
Think of a "V" notch in the bottom of the ear. Like a scab you keep picking, it never heals. I just need something to cover the wound so when the knuckle-head shakes his head it doesn't break open again.
I'll try the superglue. Does it eventually come off somehow?

I'll bet you almost anything there was at least 2 layers of sutures underneath that glue.Brittguy wrote:I think you can use glue for more than small cuts. I had a vet do a AI breeding where there was about a 4 inch incision on the belly, glue was used.
Re: Surgical Glue
I thought skin glue was "water-proof" and superglue was water soluble?!?!?!?! If true, wouldn't the superglue come undone in a short amount of time is the wound was wet from the outside or inside?

Usually takes Acetone to remove SuperGlue, don't know what is used on SkinGlue.nitrex wrote:I thought skin glue was "water-proof" and superglue was water soluble?!?!?!?! If true, wouldn't the superglue come undone in a short amount of time is the wound was wet from the outside or inside?

Re: Surgical Glue
Whatever you decide, make sure you thoroughly flush the wound first. Sealing in a bit of bacteria can start a nasty infection.

Re: Surgical Glue
The best super glue to use is the "gel." it's thicker and easier to apply.

Re: Surgical Glue
I've never used it on the dogs that I remember, but I've superglued myself before. It doesn't wash off with water. Just comes off with time.
I have English Pointers because they don't ever grow up either...
Re: Surgical Glue
They used glue when they replaced both of my hips.

It's not how many breaths you have taken but how many times it has been taken away!
Has anyone noticed common sense isn't very common anymore.

Re: Surgical Glue
Now I'm wondering how they decide what to use... I've been wanting to pick up a stapler to add to my glue and sutures I carry.ezzy333 wrote:They used glue when they replaced both of my hips.

My dad'd knees were stapled when they were done. I'm positive because we had a few spirited debates over them. In the end he won, and I didn't take them out.
