Illinois Trip
Illinois Trip
Went back to visit family for the holiday, had great weather on the five days of hunting/training we got in. Pup did well, I check corded him into his first couple birds each day and he held for the flush on a loose cord and retrieved all of them. We let him run when we thought the field was clear after the other dogs had gone through and he found and pointed two more and flushed another the first day and one point and two flushes the second. I let him drag his cord around the next couple days and he pointed about 3/4 of the birds he found until he was intorduced to birds that really wanted to run and then the wheels kinda came off the wagon. I think he is finally learning that it is a bit easier to let me shoot them for him. Getting better all the time.

Waylon is coming along nice. We should go out to Warren's next weekend and see if he likes horses.

Don't let him fool you... He went to ezzy's farm and cleaned up planted birds.AzDoggin wrote:Very impressive. Congrats on your trip.

Az has a ton of wild birds. You just have to archery hunt in Jan to find the honey holes.
Re: Illinois Trip
No planted birds on the farm. Tried it once but they didn't come up. Probably planted them too deep.ultracarry wrote:Don't let him fool you... He went to ezzy's farm and cleaned up planted birds.AzDoggin wrote:Very impressive. Congrats on your trip.

It's not how many breaths you have taken but how many times it has been taken away!
Has anyone noticed common sense isn't very common anymore.

Ezzy is right, If you go to deep you they dont come up. Plus they have enough on that property you don't need to plant any. I think they use some strong fertilizers.ezzy333 wrote:No planted birds on the farm. Tried it once but they didn't come up. Probably planted them too deep.ultracarry wrote:Don't let him fool you...
