Indeed, that is pretty awesome.
Pardon my stupidity, but was it a fish or what that the eagle was trying to make off with?

I dunno what he was after but that was cool... I like the way he kept coming back around so he was always flying into the wind for a pass at it...
Heaven goes by favor. If it went by merit, you would stay out and your dog would go in.

As many times as I have watched eagles over the years, I have never seen that. That shows a bird that reasoned the best way to get its dinner to shore. Pretty darn cool.
I once saw an eagle on the Kennebec Chasing flying duck. the Eagle would gain altitude then dive to catch up to the duck. The duck was a pure Ace. He dodged that eagle three times then the eagle gave up.
That is a cool video.

Re: Bald eagle - swimming?
I saw the same thing while sitting in a duck blind year before last. Lac Vieux Desert. The guy with me said it can't be an eagle to which I replied yes, I have seen an eagle land on water and take off again but I have never seen them try to swim with a large fish! I have seen them take off with lots of fish before, steal some of our crippled ducks but this eagle was really making time pulling the fish into shore on the island!!

Re: Bald eagle - swimming?
Yep! We have bald eagles around here, and I have seen them in Canada on fishing trips, but I've never witnessed that behavior before. It's obvious that the eagle figured out, that if it sunk it's talons into some prey, and "rowed" itself to shore, it would have some food! And there are some folk on this forum who don't believe that dogs can think! I'll take a dog brain over a bird brain every time!Ruffshooter wrote:As many times as I have watched eagles over the years, I have never seen that.
