Help--what is this and need a vet visit?

Postby Vaoutdoors42 » Sun May 20, 2012 6:06 am

Looking for suggestions as to what going be going on here-- 8 month old GSP was outside all day yesterday played fine. As soon as we got home I noticed him licking himself in back left inner thigh area a little too much.

Dog is acting normal, eating, playing--however has the attached picture on of his left inner thigh. It appears to be very irratated, red bumps (no changes in diet or anything) and there is also a line that may be a cut it is a yellow color in nature? But it looks like it may be infected by the color???

While I was then down looking in that area, I noticed a yellow/green discharge coming from his penis. He has not been fixed so I am not sure if this has an impact or if the two things going on are even related? His penis looks fine other than the picture of the inner thight but thought I would mention the discharge since I noticed it while I was looking at his thigh...

Any suggestions are welcomed!!

Well the hair is gone. Any chance he rubbed that area on something rough while he was a playing?

Maybe it could be a hotspot. Take a trip to the vet.

Don't rely on the GDF experts diagnosis, take him to a qualified, hands on vet. The sooner the better.
Might not be a big deal. CJ

The discharge is probably normal, but the skin inflammation has progressed to the point where he may need oral anitbiotics. Looks like some icky staph, aggravated by the moist, protected location.
