New Field Champion! FC Snips Sixth-Sens Wyatt MH
It's been a great journey!!
13 months from his first gun dog stake till his FC
22 placements
14 clubs
38 Different Judges
Pending AKC approval, Wyatt Finished his AKC Field Championship this past weekend at the Oakridge Pointing Dog Club in Polk Pa. After taking a few weeks off to rest up and relax it was like he drank rocket fuel! He ran around 3:00 in the heat of the day. He ran Like a Champ casting 100s of yards far out of sight, hunting forward, catching edges and hunting every objective. But with only one find he'd better handle it well!! needless to say it was a pretty one! A quail flushed right over his head and landed about 3 ft from him and without moving a foot he just turned his head the other way to mark! He continued to hunt hard and in 90+ degree heat he was still punching hard at the end of his brace grabbing an edge and hunting it strong for a few hundred yards. I was very please!
His retrieve call back was flawless. With me having to dig up the bird out of the tall grass and throw it to fly Wyatt stood like a statue. I walked back to him stroking his back a few times and with a tap to the head he was off, out and back wrapping around my back to stand proudly at heel! I couldn't help but smile! I new he had a good chance at finishing!
To top off that the GSP online Chronicle was published today and I've come to find that the GSPCA has Wyatt ranked 5th in OLGD and 6th in OGD and the AKC has Wyatt ranked 7th in Both OLGD and OGD by dogs defeated.
HUGE THANKS goes out to Bruce Shaffer of Almost Heaven Kennels in WV for all the blood, sweat, and tears along the road to Wyatts Field Championship. Bruce has done an AMAZING job with Wyatt training and handling him since he was 3 months old. Bruce handled Wyatt to a AKC Master Hunter at the age of 18 months, a Nationally ranked German Shorthair at
2 1/2, and now a AKC Field Championship at just over the age of 3. What an accomplishment for such a young dog! Bruce none of this could have been done without you! Thank you for training Wyatt and taking me under your wing and showing me the ropes. It was easy to train Wyatt because of an awesome breeder, breeding, and bloodline, BIG THANKS to Brenda Roe at Walnut hill Kennels for that. But as for training me, that was another story!
And thank you all that encouraged me, followed Wyatt along the way, scouted for Wyatt and Judged Wyatt! You all are an amazing bunch of friends.

You guys have had one heck of a year! Congrats
Re: New Field Champion! FC Snips Sixth-Sens Wyatt MH
Ya done real good with the boy Saturday Jon and he's definitely a good'un, so very worthy of sharing your pride! Now you just need to get those last 4 points to finish his Amateur Field Champion up this Fall!
I'd like to add that almost every single one of Wyatt's Placements and Wins came from Major Stakes(he has 5 Major Wins), where he had to best more than just a small handful of dogs from some of the most represented Breeds(GSP's, Vizsla's, Pointer's, etc...) and many times, some of those dogs he was besting were already FC's, AFC's and DC's. He has always been consistently in the ribbons, week in and week out, consistent as the Sun and the Moon. He can switch gears and downshift from a Horseback Trial to a Walking Trial and back again; as well as shift gears between hunting the Prairies for Shaprtails and Prairie Chickens, to hunting Grouse and Woodcock in the Mountains of WV and MD. He was able to run on grounds from the Piney Woods of South and North Carolina, to the tight courses of the Mid-Atlantic, to the Grouse woods of Marienville, to the more open grounds of Ohio, to the grounds in Connecticut. Quite simply an amazing young dog!
While I appreciate your recognition, I'm much more thankful to you for trusting me and following my recommendations throughout his development. Thank You for the opportunity.
Ted, I've NEVER finished a FC I might change that with another young dog I'm working with right now, as his owner has no intention of fooling with him until I'm done with him. He needs just 1 Win.

Maybe you never finished him but you had a big part in it. Good things come to those who work hard & enjoy what they do so I'm sure there will be many in the future.
Good Luck Bruce hope to run into you sooner or later.

Re: New Field Champion! FC Snips Sixth-Sens Wyatt MH
Congrats Jon, Bruce, Brenda, and of course Wyatt. He's a great looking dog, and in owning a littermate, I sure wish I could watch Wyatt run in a trial. Proud of all of you for getting it done!

Nice work
To brag little, to lose well, to crow gently if in luck, to pay up, to own up, and to shut up if beaten, are the virtues of a sporting man.
