Trapping Weasel?

Trapping Weasel?

Postby Brittdogs » Thu Jun 07, 2012 12:14 pm

I just got rid of a problem fox and now I saw a weasel in the back of my property by the brooding house and pen. The brooding house is secure but it will definitely be able to get into the outdoor pen (chicken wire sides about 8 inches of the ground). Anyone have any ideas/suggestions on how to trap this thing or keep it out of the bird pen? From what I've heard weasels can squeeze through 1" chicken wire. And if it gets in it will tear the heads off of birds (from what I've heard).

Thanks
AJ

I would use a small live trap with a back compartment.

Put a live white chicken in the rear compartment.

Cover the entire trap with brush; except for the trap door entrance.

The predator will only go in the easy way (the door) as to not disturb the chicken by busting through the brush.

Works good for fox and bobcat also.

get yourself a rat trap put it in big enough pipe which the trap will still go off in, seen people use a newpaper box to put the trap in which works too, we always made plywood boxes that a rat trap would fit in and put metal screen over one end make sure you either anchor the trap down or add a short cable to it, put some meat bait in the back near the screen so they can smell it and see it but can't get to it without going over the trap

Google weasel trap. They are easy to make. Sound like the same idea as ibbowhunting posted. Good luck.

Yep, use the rat trap in a box with some fresh meat.

Thanks everyone, rat trap it is. Unless he shows himself in front of a gun barrel.
