Ever do something stupid?

Post by Back » Sat Dec 01, 2012 4:31 pm

You guys ever just do something stupid and get frustrated with yourself...? I was backing out with my dog trailer today after some training and not paying real close attention... BOOM... Jack-knifed the trailer and put a couple good scratches on the left rear fenderwell. Trailer was fine.

Nobody's fault but my own... Boy was I agrivated with my self!

Just once? I've done it 3 times now. Mixed a lab, GSP & Gordon Setter in there also.

It only counts as stupid if you first said, "Hold my beer and watch this."
Never try to teach a pig to sing. It wastes your time and annoys the pig.

It's not how many breaths you have taken but how many times it has been taken away!

Has anyone noticed common sense isn't very common anymore.

Submitted a grievance against my boss. I won the hearing and she had to apologize, but she made my life heck ever after. I should have realized that would happen.
I did confront her the week before I retired. :D

Just today, shot the old smoke pole without hearing protection because I was to lazy to take five minutes to get some, 4 hours later my ears are still ringing, half deaf to begin with.

I actually have done exactly what you did. This was our first year having a dog trailer, and it sure is easy to forget about it behind my Jeep. I pulled into our training campsite, and my husband was behind me with the truck and camper. I thought maybe I was in the way and backed up, totally forgetting about the trailer. A crunching noise reminded me that I had just jack knifed the trailer. The trailer frame gouged the plastic fender for 2-3", but my Jeep isn't new and it shouldn't be too hard to fix. I don't anticipate making that mistake again, but I suppose if I don't repair the fender, nobody would ever know if I did.

I have never made a stupid mistake in my life. They were carefully planned and worked just as bad as I though they would!

A wise person once said "if you never make mistakes, you arn't doing anything". A Ski instructur once said if you "arn't falling down a lot, you arn't learning anything".

I can say that I do a lot and am constantly learning.

First time I took my girlfriend out fishing with me... she outfished me, of course.
But before we got started fishing, I put the boat in the water, drove a couple hundred yards out and then the light bulb goes off in my head. "Sh!t I forgot to put the plug in," turn the boat around and plane it off to head back, she looks a bit scared this whole time but doesn't say anything. Pull up to the dock, back the trailer down, and load up to let the water run out. She says, "Obviously its something bad because you hurried back, but what is the plug?" Felt like an idiot, especially since I hadn't known her for very long.

Same here. Did have a buddy once though who called out the name of some girl other than his wife when he was sleeping. Wouldn't have been so bad, but his wife (at the time) was an insomniac.
