CZ Upland Ultra Light

Post by ACooper » Sat Jun 15, 2013 4:08 pm

Anyone have an opinion on this gun?

I can pick up a 12 ga with 26" at a decent price, however I don't really need another shotgun, I guess I am looking for a reason to talk myself into it.

Andy, I know exactly what you are battling with. I talked myself into buying a 20 ga Citori Upland last summer. I love the gun but still shoot my SKB 280 all the time :D .

I would go for it. Hubby and I are actually shopping for an gun to carry as a back up. Had an issue with my Citori and didnt have a back up. So we decided to add agun to the truck for back up.

I mostly hunt with a 28 ga SxS but I also take along my 16 ga SxS as a back up. should I decide I want to hunt with my 16 ga, the 28 goes along as a backup. Of course if you just want another, if you can afford it, go for it. I would if I could afford them. I have six different rifle's all in different cartridge's. Other than the 243 and 25-06 I can just pick out any one and get the same results, I don't need all those rifles, I bought them when I could afford them because I wanted them.

I had one. It was light for sure. Seemed as well built as any other CZ shotgun. They aren't the most refined/beautiful O/U's or SxS's.....but they sure as heck work.

I've owned a bobwhite, ultra light, upland, and woodcock. All were nice shotguns and went BANG.

I purchased one earlier this year from a local gun shop primarily for phez and quail hunting. I made the mistake a few weeks ago taking it out dove hunting to try and get more used to shooting it, all I can say is ouch!,( it is super light and not made to be shot all day). The gun seems very durable but I have already had to send it back to CZ for a problem with the barrel selector switch, it is now fixed and was returned back to me within three weeks! Just FYI for everyone that has tried to inquire these guns are capable of shooting steel shot as per CZ which I contacted directly and asked! I will be taking the gun out west this week so more to follow on its function and overall reliability, but so far I like it. I did have the owner of the the local sporting clays range install a mid bead on his recommendation, this has definitely made it easier to acquire a properly aligned sight picture. j

Buy it and give us a report on it

I bought one several weeks ago. It needs to be fitted to me (stubby arms) and is at the gunsmith waiting in line, but before doing so I patterned it and shot a few clays. The fit and finish are fine. It kicks like a mule since the factory recoil pad is just a thin bit of hard rubber and it is so light. It patterned nicely and true to POA with my normal #5 kent upland loads with the I and M chokes on both barrels.

As part of the fitting they are cutting it way back and sticking the thickest meanest recoil pad they can on it to tone it down.
