my 10 month old shorthair
I have been out everyweekend and sometimes a few hours after work. And I got to say it has clicked she has been holding her points retrieving and even back pointing other dogs. It does help I think we have got into a ton of quial this year. Has not been a spot I have walked this year that didnt have a covey or 2 on it. We are starting to see a few more pheasants now. But they are hit and miss. Going to try and run my pup in a couple trails.dont think we will win but she will find birds. She wont range as much as the other dogs might if I would let her.. anybody else around southeast Nebraska been doing any good.

Sounds like she is doing great. My brittany also started holding his points until I flush the bird at the start of this hunting season.

One year old Jenny on point with a blue grouse. She was about 150 yds from me and held her point until I got there.

It's great to see all the hard work come together. I've read that as little as 15 minute training sessions, daily, can pay dividends. You're lucky to have the wild birds to work your dogs on. I've got a close friend in GI that has access to a huge family ranch. I'd love to make it up there next season!!
A dog on point.....steady, yet trembling,
Breathing in and tasting the gentle breeze.
Take a moment for yourself to soak it all in,
All the training, the hard work.....it really has paid off.
