Good Upland magazines?
Good Upland magazines?
I get the PF and QF mags; used to get Gun Dog. What other good magazines are there that are worth subscribing to?

Not strictly upland, but I think the finest writing today is in Gray's Sporting Journal. Don't care for Upland Almanac. I also get Pointing Dog Journal

PF since I'm a member. Have subscribed occasionally to Gun Dog. The quality has gone downhill a bit over the years, but I do enjoy the articles they present on different breeds of dogs.
Re: Good Upland magazines?
I like the PDJ
Re: Good Upland magazines?
Love that Pointing Dog Journal!

Re: Good Upland magazines?
I received a copy of PDJ as a gift when I got my first pointing dog in 2000; have been a subscriber ever since. I purchase Gray's and Shooting Sportsman from time to time at our local bookstore. I am a NAVHDA member, so I receive the Versatile Magazine regularly, and it is quite good. Gundog Magazine articles regarding breeds are interesting, but generally the articles are shallow, short, and the writing style is very impersonal. I think I would like Upland Journal, but have only seen one copy. Maybe I should subscribe to that one too. I really enjoy passing my magazine copies on to other hunters and leaving them in the waiting room at the local vet clinic.

I'd read one before you subscribe. I find it nothing but adds and the articles uninteresting.marysburg wrote:I received a copy of PDJ as a gift when I got my first pointing dog in 2000; have been a subscriber ever since. Re: Good Upland magazines?
i have had all of the magazines mentioned above. PDJ is my favorite out of them . Upland almanac my least favorite. i always enjoyed the field trial magazine, lots of good stuff in those and you can buy back issues. i added that i liked grey also.
i also like the pheasants forever magazine, i would like to see it with quail magazine as one but that probably would not sell as many memberships.
