GWP it is

Post by jussbrutal » Mon Feb 07, 2005 6:15 pm

Sorry Gary, but a weim just doesn't get my blood going like a wirehair. My last post was the last thing that would have made me reconsider, and it would have had to be very overwhelming..moving on.

In my internet travels, I have come across a line called "Chump Change". It seems the name keeps popping up. http://www.chumpchangewires.com/

So, I'd like to call upon the forums members once again.

Does anyone here have a Chump Change dog?
Seen one in action?
Dealt with this breeder?
Anything?

Are there any opinions out there?? :? :?

thanks in advance :!:

Kevin,

I'll have another look at versatile dogs. That site was the reason for GWP/DD as opposed to just GWP in my first post. Those DD guys seem to have a lousy temperment. :P :P I think I'd get ripped on that site for suggesting a GWP over a DD..what do you think :?:

Tak,

Not that titles are everything, but it is nice to see NAVHDA and UKC in there.
It looks like his dogs have a lot of hunt in them. I can guarantee I will be hunting the dog, all that testing..well ya never know.
Still not quite ready to  ..pull the trigger. Thanks for the input.

The owners of Chump Change Caleb and Chump Change brewer are on that site, they should be able to give you some first hand experience.

Nothing wrong with the DD...you stated you were a little turned off by the GWP person that didn't hunt, I don't think you'll find to many DD owners that don't hunt.

Kevin..cmon now...you're comparing a group (VDD) with breeding goals in mind, to a group (GWPCA) that share an interest in a breed of dog. That's like comparing Angelina Jolie and Rosie O'Donnell, they're both women :?: but are worlds apart.

JB,(quote)Sorry Gary, but a weim just doesn't get my blood going like a wirehair.

Keeping in mind the your climate and lack of cuckle burs, you have made a reasonable choice.

Most of our So.Tx hunts the temp is around 85,and lots of burrs, thorns, rattle snakes, etc.A good place to loose a long haired dog from overheating.

Best of luck with your new pup.......Gary

just make sure that you try to get a GWP that has been in alot of birds parents wise. some tend to do alot of ground sniffing instead of air sniffing. had a friend that got one was a "bleep" good dog but tended to wanna track small game more than birds. cuz the parents were big time game hunters. may not happend but wanted to share this. they are awesome dogs though.

A GWP is supposed to track small game!

yes i know but you do have that one person like my friend that was not smart enough to do his homework on the dog and was mad about it when he found out that it would rather run game than find birds. i ended up taking the dog and he was one heck of a blood trcker and duck dog. i am sorry i should have made myself clearer in that. last post,

Agreed,

If your friend only wanted to hunt birds on land the GWP may not have been the best choice.

From what I've learned so far  ..most would rather hunt birds instead of fur if both are around. I think it is so cool that these dogs will do it all :!:

Juss.
How come you didn't check out mason Creek Kennels. I mean since you are looking for a dog that can do it in the water or land .
That's where I'm going for my next bird dog. Been a GSP,Setter, and Pointer man for fourty some years now.

Good luck,I think you made a wise choice by choosing a GWP.
Best, Greg.
