Don't count out BB's Pike or Whippoorwill Wild Again. They both have a shot.

Today's American Field carries Tom Word's report on the Florida Open All-Age Championship run at Ted Baker's Chinquapin Farm near Lake City FL., noting where Funseeker's Rebel had clinched that 109 dog championship.
As this purse is for $35,000.00 I can understand one of the reasons it pulls in the talent that it does.
The report gives some good information on the newly crowned National Champion.
Funseeker's Rebel, owned by Mercy and Frank Fonseca of Miami, FL, handled by Fred Dileo of Climax GA, call name is Tyson or Ty. (boy, that was a great dog from the '50's) was whelped in 2000, and now at six years has had a very successful career.

His wins include:
*Runner-up, Continental Open All-Age Championship 2007
*Winner, Florida Open All-Age Championship 2007
*1st, Amateur North Florida Field Trial Club, FL 2006
*1st, Dr. D. E. Hawthorne Border Classic, ND 2006
*3rd, Southern Pines Classic, NC 2006
*Winner, Tar Heel Championship, NC 2005
*1st, Sunshine Open All-Age Classic, FL 2005
*Winner, Masters Open All-Age Championship, Albany, GA 2004
*2nd, Amateur All-Age, Sunshine Field Trial Club, 2002

His Sire : CH. Double Rebel Sonny---Dam 2X CH /RU Ch. Funseeker's Gem

Bob Shelton wrote at the fieldtrialdog bb:
"The sire line descended from those tough West Texas & Oklahoma dogs,
many coming out of John Criswell's kennel and put on display by Lee
West, Tony Terral, Bud Daugherty, and others. Some of the bottom line
descended from Famous shooting dogs with an infusion of all age
(Jerry's Runaway Bandit, etc.) here and there. It does seem that many
of the good qualities have settled in this particular dog."
Larry Garner wrote at the cover dog bb:
"Funseekers Rebel is strong Double Rebel Line. His father Double Rebel Sonny was all Rebel breeding top and bottom.
Fred Arant started this line with the great ones like A Rambling Rebel.
The Barshoe and Wileaway dogs were all strong in Rebel breeding.Dogs like Buckboard were strong Rebel breeding.
Most of these Rebel dogs have some brown color to a lot of brown."

Congratulations to the 2007 National Bird Dog Champion, Funseeker's Rebel, his owners and handler.

I think his owner also just handled him to a big Am. win. Noticed it in the Field, I think it was last week's.
