What is the best style of choke to use

A few months ago I purchased a o/u CZ-USA Woodcock, I love how it shots and feels and currently I have installed the Mod and IM in the gun for bird hunting this year. This is the first shot gun I have ever own with interchangeable choke's so I want to make sure I'm doing this the right way. But i have a couple questions.
1.Is there a big difference between the internal and external choke's. I've seen people using both and was wondering is one better then the other?
2.What would be the pro's and con's?
3.And the two choke sizes I have chosen for using in my gun. Are these good for bird hunting? I currently hunt pheasants, quail, chukar, and grouse
4.Should I be using a different combo for the different birds i hunt?

If you are hunting over a pointing dog I would suggest to open the chokes up as you are pretty tight now. 90% of my bird hunting is with cylinder/imp cylinder. I shoot high velocity copper or nickel plated shot and crush many of the birds that I pull the trigger on. You could go, imp cylinder/mod and do pretty well.

figure the distance you want to shoot at the birds- pattern a few loads

Different cokes for different birds and different shot size.

Early when birds are holding tight open chokes.

Later in the season when birds are busting wild tighen up on chokes.

I would start at Sheet and Imp.

Just think I hunt with only one barrel and have a more difficult choice;-)=

You didn't say what type of birds or type of terrain???!!!
