FDSB Litter Registration?

Post by Karen » Wed Sep 28, 2011 9:36 am

Is there a benefit? The only 2 pups that I supsect will be FDSB registered are the 2 we're keeping. The rest are going to pet/hunting homes. I've got the paperwork all filled out, but am wondering what the point is.....to register a litter is $22 + $2 for each puppy + $5 for an unregistered dam, so $42. Then when I go to register the pups I keep, another $22 per puppy OR just $22/puppy with a copy of their AKC registration papers.

These are Brittanys, not pointers or setters. Is there an advantage to doing the litter registration that I'm missing?

I do it Just in case really not that much to maintain the litters in both formats

The futurity if your pup wins it is an American Field win

Also quite a few of the trials that are run are dual sanctioned maybe not as much but I still see quite a few Brittany trials posted in the American Field Mag and unless the dog is registered those wins won't count for your dogs progeny record

Plus it adds a bit more pride for the owner thinking their pup is dual registrable  some times that helps them to check out different things to do with their dog

You of all people should register these puppies. You are always attending American Field Events and you need it for Championship that is not sanctioned by AKC. I have to say you have attended many more American Field Trials then I have so I would strongly recommend it.

Oh yeah and good point many futurity dogs in the east coast area maybe someone local will volunteer to hold it :)

Karen don't do the litter. Just register your pups with FDSB. The litter registration is a waste.

Never knew that you can registed just the dog. One time I didnt registed the litter and a field trial friend ended up getting a puppy and explained to me that it was an annoying process registering his dog or maybe he was just being lazy. HMMM :?

Registering just the dog with FDSB is easy....just fill out a form, and send them a check for $22.00 and a copy of their AKC registration papers. They've always been extremely helpful when I've called with questions.

You can ..Just AKC register the dog then you get a copy of the pedigree and a copy of the registration just for the extra measure and it is 32 dollars to reg an AKC reg dog to FDSB

If dog offered for registration in another recognized stud book, give number and attach photocopy of the certificate
of registration, with additional $10.00 fee. If registered in a foreign stud book, an official three generation pedigree is also required.

The breeder I purchased my llewellin from had registered the litter. His thinking was future owners of the pups would save a few bucks when they registered with FDSB. He was wrong. :D Costs were the same for me, as anyone registering a dog. He DID get a litter registration number, which may, or may not have eased in lineage tracing for the registree (I may have made up that word).

I have been waiting for my pup's registration since sending it early June. After a call today (they are very helpful on the phone) the person told me it had been processed and was being sent this coming Friday. IMO, they are not very quick, but I have no idea of the numbers of applications they receive.

After all that, sorry, not much help to you.

Good luck.

Karen, just register the pups you are keeping. It is extremely easy. I don't know what your friend was talking about.
