Grouse Hunting with Addict. The "opener"

Post by 12 Volt Man » Sat Sep 09, 2006 9:52 pm

They evaded us today. We put a ton of miles on the Jeep, the dogs, and our hiking boots. We saw Moose, Elk, and Deer.

I got some advice on a "hot" spot from a friend who had been bow hunting and saw a "ton" of grouse. When we got there at first light, there were grouse there. Sage grouse. I didn't know there were sage grouse in this location, it was cool to see them. Sage Grouse are limited to special permits and areas in Utah.

Here are some pics. It was good to get out. Hopefully we can find some grouse next time.

Cowboy ran into something he did not like. He was barking, and pretty worked up. You can see the hair standing up on his back. I never could find what it was.

Beautiful country, beautiful dog. What more could you ask for? OK, a nice point or two, but who is counting anyway.

It was a fun trip. Me and the Dog slept well. Saw tons of wildlife and some new country. It was great to get out and hunt with 12 again.

I ended up going out hunting closer to home today. I slept in till 9 am which was six and a half hours more than I got yesterday night :P. It took a couple miles for both me and the dog to work the soreness out from yesterday, but was worth it. I saw several blues and a few ruffs. I ended up getting two blues. I think my barrel is bent  ...thats my story and I'm sticking to it!

12, give me a call when you can get out again so I can return the favor. I will get us on some birds that are in season  .
