At Good Time Kennels we raise German Shorthaired Pointers for competition, testing, hunting and most of all just having a Good Time.  Our dogs are eager to please and will perform in any event you train them for.  The Good Time Kennel name started when my good friend Steve Ries gave me a German Shorthaired Pointer, Top Gun Good Time Charlie.  Steve and the Ries Family own and operate Top Gun Kennels in Alburnett, Iowa. Top Gun Kennel is an experienced kennel that breeds, raise and trains, German Shorthaired Pointers and work with hunting enthusiasts all over the country. Many of the Top Gun Kennel dogs have won national and regional recognition.  To find more out about Top Gun Kennels visit

About Bill Monk and Good Time Kennels

Bill's love for the outdoors began at a young age while accompanying his dad and grandfather either hunting or fishing in Ohio at their family cabin or a local river or farm pond. Every year Bill and his father would take a few days off school and go deer hunting. Once Bill was old enough to carry his own gun, his dad introduced him to Pheasant Hunting.
On Thanksgiving Day each year Bill, his dad and family friends would take to the fields. Not knowing any different, Bill learned to hunt birds the hard way. Bill hunted birds for nearly fifteen years without dogs and after moving to Iowa in 1996 Bill was introduced to hunting birds with a quality bird dog. It took him another three years to get one of his own and now he can't imagine hunting any other way.
In 2002, Bill and his wife, Tina, made the decision to move closer to family and return to their childhood home in Ohio. Bill and the family returned home with a young German Shorthair puppy (Top Gun "Good Time" Charlie) and quickly realized that they were not in Iowa any longer and the wild bird population in Ohio was not what it use to be. At that time Bill started exploring ways to spend time with his family and his dog. Bill became involved in NAVHDA, AKC Hunt Test and AKC Field Trials and has been very successful in each.
Nearly five years later Bill is now a Licensed AKC Judge and serious competitor in pointing dog field trials and hunt test all over the country. To date Bill has finished 2 AKC Field Champions and Amateur Field Champions and 1 National Amateur Gun Dog Champion. Bill has accumulated over 50 placements and wins and several passing scores in AKC Master and Junior Hunt Test. Bill credits a lot of his success to the love and support of his wife, Tina, and three sons, Wiley, Owen and Ian, and trains and conditions his dogs with his sons and close friends on his "Good Time" farm in Zanesville, Ohio.
