Re: hunting rigs
Think I've posted this before, but....my '05 GMC half ton crew with ARE topper gets me wherever I need to go (on-road or off-road) quite comfortably and with decent mileage (16-20mpg). The topper offers decent ventilation in the summer and can close her up pretty good when it gets cold too. I built a small platform in back and throw my portable kennels on top with storage underneath - bought a couple long rolling storage compartments at Target for $12 each and it works like a charm.
My other "rig" looks about like this:
My boots are what I rely on to get me to the back-country, and tho this pic isn't mine, my boots look an awful lot like them!

Club Car. It's now painted lime green with low pro tires and 14" rims!
2002 PT Cruiser. Not ideal but does the job. Hope to have a four door Tundra one of these days

Yeah..the 900 is pretty cool...but I normally use mine to hunt off of (get to end of dirt road and hike), so the 800 works great. The other issue is width. They are gating off a bunch of our atv trails and the 900 won't fit through.

From the sound of things you both need to get a GSP instead of those Britts. I cannot tell a lie. The picture was taken back in '01. The seat cover is now worn out and the battery is dead. It is now snowed in out in the barn. The only way I can use it nowdays is to put the 2000 Honda generator in the back to charge the battery enough to run the EZGO 2 cycle engine.

This is what gets me and the dogs around, 2005 Tundra Double Cab. Used for daily commutes and hunting, run it into the ground and then buy something else.
I would love to have a unit like Chukar12 but first must learn to ride a horse. It's on my bucket list. I think it would be neat to hunt off horseback and be up high to see the dogs work.

1999 F250 SD 4X4 7.3 Diesel
I am looking to replace the cap with a Unicover Model 800 with forward side doors for access to the area behind the dog boxes and rear awning windows for better ventilation for the dogs.
I think that will make this a pretty handy setup.
These aren't specifically for hunting - more for trials and trails...
This too...

Re: hunting rigs
I've about given up on the new truck idea. I figure my current outfit is paid for, has at least another 100,000 miles in it, and gets me 21 MPG on the highway without a trailer. I would really like a crew cab more for gear than people. I just can't convince myself It's worth $40,000.00. I think I'll be better off to just put a little money in mine (I bought the topper used and had it painted so I won't be out much if I trade it off) and try to get it as usable as I can.Coveyrise64 wrote:
