Who's got photos?
Anyone have any recent photos they can throw up? I had a really terrible end of the year with respect to dogs and didn't get to even a single trial. Here are a few photos of the girls.
After a stop-to-flush.
This is my dad. He isn't a big fan of running dogs and without him I couldn't make half the progress I do with him. He's an invaluable help to me.
I'll give you two guesses who her grandsire is, but you'll only need one.
Favorite photo ever! I wish I would have not captured it as blurry.
Cinna is not very photogenic, but in person is a very pretty dog. The most tender pup I've ever met.
Tried to set up a backing drill here, but the wind shifted and Moxy caught scent first. Oh well...

Re: Who's got photos?
Yeah, man. He makes that collar look good! That center ring doesn't look as bulky after all, does it? I finally got those squares that were mailed out and they were the wrong one. I can't find anything in 1.5", but made up a 1" square-ring collar the other day and it was pretty sharp. I am ordering a sample of 3" material also to make a 3" fluorescent field collar... excited to see how it comes out.

Re: Who's got photos?
Last pheasant hunt for my 10 m/o pup, and also her first experience with snow. We left the house and I gave her the "Go Potty" command before we got in the truck, she looked at me like "You want me to what? In this?!" Needless to say, she slammed point on a pheasant 10 yards from the truck and it was like she'd been in snow all her life after that.

Bodhi.
At this point, his natural range is just about too big for me to handle him off foot.
I can handle him back in- but I really don't want to. He's stopping to flush in this picture.

Speaking of Stoneface collars. This was from today. Already posted it but really like it so, here it is again.
P.S. Stoneface, Haven't forgot you. Just been on the road the last few weeks with work. I will try to get the collar out tomorrow. By the way, great job on the collars for our trial. Huge hit.

Re: Who's got photos?
Here are a few pics taken this week. My brit pup is 5 months old and the vizzie I train for a neighbour has been showing her the ropes. The brit pup did her first ever point on a pheasant today.
It was the same pheasant that both the vizzie and the brit pup had caught scent of.
The vizzie producing a pheasant on command, the bird is above her head.
The vizzie producing a snipe on command .....with a little bit of help from the brit ! The snipe is flushing just in front of the dogs.

Re: Who's got photos?
No worries, Joe. I'm actually selling out. I don't have the investment capital for a meaningful effort at the collars and I really don't want to just sell a collar here and a couple there, so when a guy made me a good offer on the whole shabang, I decided to take him up on it. I'll take the money and pay down some of my debt so I could hopefully get approved by the bank and buy a house pretty soon.

Second time i've seen you post this picture. This is my favorite picture i've seen of a pointing dog, and the landscape combined with it makes it an awesome photo, I even showed my wife.
You have a very good looking dog on point!
Here's mine, not on point or hunting at all. But he does love the heat register haha

Don't usually take the camera out training but for some reason decided to throw it in yesterday in case dogs stumbled into something and actually stood long enough for a picture. Good work on huns and sharpies:

Re: Who's got photos?
Thanks much! Yes, I've had my Sony A700 for years and really like it. I have been considering swapping out for an A77 mainly due to the video capability - I've seen some awesome video work using SLR's recently and pretty intrigued.
I usually shoot the G-series 70-300mm if I am going to try and get some decently crisp dog or wildlife shots:
I shoot my G-series 16-105mm for landscapes or get some strange perspectives:
Sometimes I'll shoot landscapes with the 70-300mm but you gotta get a little crafty - took this as two shots without lowering the camera focusing on the tree then on the moon (or the moon then the tree can't remember) then combined 'em:
One thing I've done that you might enjoy doing Don is renting lenses from http://www.LensRentals.com For a decent price you can rent some pretty phenomenal (and scary expensive!) equipment - they make the whole process super easy and you can try out that $12,000 500mm f2.8 prime before you buy it. Last year I rented a Sony 300mm f/2.8, added a 1.4x teleconverter (giving me an effective 420mm ~f/4 setup) with a heavy duty carbon fiber tripod for 3 days for about $300-400 for a trip to Yellowstone. Going to do the same thing again here in a few weeks.

That's it. I'm tired of your posts and pictures. I'm packing up and moving to your house. I hope you have room for me and the dogs. We can cook, and I'm a fair to middlin' biologist. Your photos are just breathtaking. To hunt in that country - wow! I bet I'd loose 20lbs in the first month. Keep those pics coming - even if it does make me long for wilder places!
