First Pheasant
First Pheasant
I missed the pheasant opener in Idaho Saturday. Yes I know this borders on blasphemy. But I had a good excuse, we were volunteering planting willow on a FS/TU stream rehab project. Well Sunday I went and had a great day. Sunny, cool and the windy (I know what's unique about the wind blowing in SE Idaho. I got my 2 birds and Rocky, Eric's 8 mos old Lab, flushed 2 roosters and a hen. I shot one of the roosters and Rocky retrieved it sorta. The bird flew over a willow clump and I dumped it. All the dogs went into the willows looking for the downed bird and nobody came out with it. I waded in to help and there was Rocky looking up into a tangle of willow branches and the dead rooster was stuck in them. I shook the willows and the pheasant fell out. Rocky picked it up and brought it to me. Not classic but okay retrieve.

Oh, ok, My Llew is from Kyle Warren of Paint River Llewellins. I believe he got his sire from Scott and Michelle in the UP.
